Takemusu Aikido Geelong – Taku Ma Dojo
The Taku Ma Dojo in Breakwater was officially opened in January 2016. It provides a large space for students to train together on a variety of days and times, which allows flexibility for students’ other commitments in life.
Sensei Simon (7th Dan) facilitates training and supports students along in their Aikido journey in a way that allows the student to own their training whilst maintaining the message from the teachers that have come before him.
Why Aikido?
Aikido is a highly rewarding discipline for the body and mind. It uses Japanese martial forms and strategies in its training. It is the legacy of the late Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969), who was a great contemporary martial artist and thinker.
Aikido Takemusu training develops traditional Aiki empty hand, bokken (wooden sword) and jo (staff) technique. The micro and macro avoidance and control strategies employed in Aikido Takemusu practice, together with strong grips and attacks develop sustained concentration and “ki”.
